JUCY vs Cruisin Motorhomes

Both companies price the same five cities on this site — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns and Perth — and both confine every vehicle to sealed roads, with the same narrow exception for a well-maintained access road under twelve kilometres into a recognised campground. An unsealed leg rules out both rather than choosing between them, bedding is included either way, and neither heats away from mains power: Cruisin fits a living-area heating unit to every model that runs on 240 V only, and no model in JUCY’s Australian fleet carries a heater at all. The shapes differ at the edges. JUCY adds a sixth depot at Adelaide and sells seven models under two badges — Coaster, Crib+ and Condo carry the JUCY name, while Cloudbreak, Malibu, Sunseeker and Big Kahuna are sold as Chill’d by JUCY. Cruisin sells eight automatic diesels from two to six berths, and folds made-up beds with linen and towels, unlimited kilometres and up to three drivers into the hire. Neither publishes a vehicle count. The bathroom is the first real split: a toilet is fitted to five of JUCY’s seven, where seven of Cruisin’s eight carry a shower and cassette toilet with hot and cold water.

Past that, the difference is the age of the vehicle that turns up, and it is what both review records are about. Cruisin publishes a ceiling on its own vehicle pages — nothing in the fleet older than four years, and the two Deluxe models under two — and its two platforms agree more closely than almost any operator here: 4.6 across 3,958 Google reviews weighted over six depot listings, and 4.8 from 1,317 on a single Australia-wide Trustpilot listing, both praising an unhurried handover and vehicles new enough to match the published policy. JUCY’s sources agree at the other end. Its Google record is reported as sentiment per depot rather than one figure, with Adelaide positive, Brisbane mixed to positive and Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns mixed; Trustpilot holds 2.2 from around 1,090 reviews on a global jucy.com listing shared with other markets, recency-weighted rather than averaged, with the lifetime distribution nearer 3.3; and forum threads describe torn pop-top canvas, failing latches and house batteries that do not last the night. Read together, they say the counter and the first days are usually fine and the fleet’s age catches up with the trip after that.

The rest lands on the trip as a whole rather than on a day. Cruisin’s shortest hire is five days, seven from Perth, and ten between 26 December and 6 January or in event weeks such as the Bathurst 1000; a one-way adds A$165 and its own route minimum of ten to twenty-one days, twenty-one for anything involving Perth. Every mainland branch closes on Sundays, there is no after-hours pickup, and days are billed per calendar day. JUCY moves a van between any two of its six depots subject to approval and vehicle availability, and charges a flat A$200 for a return outside advertised hours. The bonds then differ in kind. Cruisin debits A$5,000 to a physical credit card at pickup rather than holding it, with a surcharge of 2.15 per cent on Visa or 2.18 on Mastercard and a refund that can take 14 working days; A$45 a day removes the bond and the liability, and only the A$55-a-day Maximum Cover Package reaches windscreen, tyres, single-vehicle rollover, overhead and underbody damage. JUCY holds its bond on the card and scales it by vehicle group, A$3,000 on the Crib+ and Cloudbreak up to A$7,500 on the Big Kahuna, releasing the unused part within 10 business days. The claims fee is A$75 at Cruisin and A$125 at JUCY.
